Dear Barbara,

I found your book at a yard sale--OMG. It probably saved me, because I had a beloved dog diagnosed right then with lymphoma. So as I took care of her the last few weeks, I lived in your book. And then when it was over, I immediately read it again, just like comfort food.I never read books twice. The only other time--Paula Allardyce, who wrote in the 60s I think.

Thank you,

Mary

ps oddly enough--the area around Pensaco and Vedito_ Last year I had a dream I was supposed to live there. So I visited; I knew right away where you were talking about.

I was feeling a bit down today and decided to do a bit of internet surfing to cheer self up! Decided to come over to your blog and just tell you how much I love your books, the Barbara Samuel ones, the Ruth Wind ones, all of them. You have such a luscious attitude to our appreciation of life through our senses, and you're making me hungry with all the food.

Haven't yet read The Lost Recipe for Happiness, but am going to put it and The Secret of Everything on my Christmas wish list and see if my husband comes up with the goods (he usually does!)

Keep writing!

Binnie, how wonderful to see your post! (We met once or twice, long, long ago.) So happy you enjoyed the book and are passing it along to foodies. New one will be out in December, THE SECRET OF EVERYTHING. (I really must get the information up!)

Barbara -

I don't have to buy your book - I already did! I started it on Sunday and got to p. 223. I've destroyed the entire morning reading the rest of it. I'm on p. 438. It's wonderful! (Our mutual friend, MJP, told me it was, and boy was she not exaggerating! I love food shows of all kinds - and this book so hits the spot! I've already recommended it to 2 foodies I know. I'm lending it to one of them, and have encouraged the other to buy it. Congratulations on a fabulous novel
