When our old dog, Kookie--who lived to 20!--developed incontinence, the vet prescribed a miracle drug. It was the simple equivalent to doggie Sudafed. At any rate, it had no ill effects on her, and her problem became far more manageable, so she was able to live out the rest of her natural life with more dignity. She was half Chihuahua, half Dachshund.

I write a lot about my dogs as well. From them I learned that every day is a great day to be a dog! Plus so many other wonderful things. I have a new dog and a new husband and she wraps us both in her paws. We are surrounded by love.

Fabulous post and I relate, having just lost two elderly dogs in similar age. It wasn't limitation at all but all about flat-out living.

Thanks!

Debbie: :) That's my job.

Ruthie, I love that you wrote that the dog was the love of your husband's life without a single whisper of jealousy.

Hi Barbara,
I'm more of a cat, but want to be a dog. We recently lost our 'love' , Abby..the most wonderful Westie ever. She was the love of my husband's life and gave us years of unconditional love, companionship and loyalty. I can totally relate what you're going through. Thanks for a heartwarming blog.
